Betsy Eister holds a Master’s Degree in Information Studies. Her career started as a College Librarian and Librarianship Lecturer at the Thaba-Nchu College of Education. She joined the community library sector where she worked as an Assistant Director and a Deputy Director, responsible for the establishment and management of community libraries in the Free State. She later worked as a Director at the Gauteng Provincial LIS and then joined the academic sector in 2008 as the NWU Mahikeng Campus Director for two years. Currently she is working as the UFS LIS Director since 2010. She has been an active member of LIASA, serving on different branch and national structures.
