CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

ETDP SETA CURRENTLY HAS AN SLA WITH THE QCTO TO BE THE ASSESSMENT QUALITY PARTNER (AQP) FOR THE LIBRARY ASSISTANT OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATION, NQF LEVEL 5, SAQA ID 94598.

The ETDP SETA, as the approved AQP, is responsible for the development of the National Data Bank of all final External Integrated Summative Assessments for the Library Assistant Occupational Qualification. The ETDP SETA now has to complete the qualification assessment specification addendum document for the QCTO, with the assistance of subject matter experts from the public library occupational training industry, who will form a working group. The ETDP SETA would like to extend an invitation to expert Library Associates and Practitioners who would be interested in the development of the Qualification Assessment Specifications Addendum which will serve as the blueprint for the Library Assistant Occupational Qualification’s final assessments.

Experts will be provided with the following three documents for their reference: The Library Assistant Occupational Qualification, Curriculum and External Assessment Specifications document, in order to develop and integrate the focus areas for assessment into a consolidated Qualification Assessment Specifications Addendum which will set the standard for the final External Integrated Assessment. Participants are expected to have the necessary qualifications, experience, and insight as to what competencies need to be assessed in order for a candidate to be qualified as a library assistant. The purpose of the focus group will be to gather input, information, perspectives and suggestions from participants through a formal controlled forum.

The experts involved in this working group are required to be representatives from public and private organisations and sectors involved in our public and private library environment with the following credentials:

  • Degree in Library and Information Science
  • 5-10 years relevant working experience as Senior Librarian’s and or Library Managers

Objective of the Forum

To develop the Qualification Assessment Specifications (QAS) Addendum, which includes:

  • Assessment Model and Distribution
  • Qualification Outcomes
  • Distribution of Cognitive Application
  • Assessment Requirements and Assessment Grid

Enthusiastic experts who fit the above profile and who are motivated to participate actively in the Library Assistant Occupational Qualification Forum are invited to send an email to the Project Coordinator Lynette Nkomo at lynetten@etdpseta.org.za or by calling 011 372 3393 before 6 July 2015 for further details.
