The South African nation is greatly enriched by the knowledge, skills, ingenuity, dedication, commitment and service that individuals in the library and information field bring to their institutions and communities.  While such people may occasionally be honoured in some way, perhaps by an institution they worked for or a community they served, there is a need for an award bestowed on a regular basis by the wider profession.

Consequently, LIASA and the S.A. Library and Information Trust recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding and are partnering in such an award to recognise notable service to the profession over an extended period in the field of library and information services, research, education and training.  The contribution can be on any level of the profession, including operational, management or academic.  This prestigious annual award, to be known as the SALI Trust – LIASA Lifetime Achievement Award is aimed at recognising an extraordinary career and will be presented at the LIASA Annual Conference.

Nominations for the award is called for.  Send your completed nomination forms to by 29 July 2016.
