Bloemfontein, "the city of roses", or also called by its Sesotho name Mangaung, "the place where cheetahs dwell", forms the backdrop for the 11th Annual LIASA Conference 2009.

LIASA (the Library and Information Association of South Africa) is a national, non-profit, professional association that represents the interest of and promotes the development and image of library and information workers. LIASA is further committed to the development of an informed nation by promoting literacy and numeracy, and lobbying against the closure of libraries.
