Ms Lianda Coetzer
Free State Branch Librarian of the Year 2016
As dedicated librarian Ms Coetzer serves library users, community and LIASA with motivation and enthusiasm.
She was appointed Campus Librarian of UFS South Campus in 2013. Though marketing and leadership the circulation figures for books per month has increased from 2 228 books in 2013 to 10 813 in 2015.
She managed to embed Information Literacy in the Skills and Competencies for Lifelong Learning course, offered at UFS.
She has a passion for training of LIS professionals and developed in 2014 a Short Learning Programme in Administration and Management of a school Library.
She developed a Higher Certificate: Library Assistant course, currently in process of registration and accreditation at HEQC.
She is active with community projects such as Read Aloud Day at schools and involved in establishing school libraries as part of the Rectors School Programme.
She has delivered papers at 4 conferences (Madrid, Pretoria, KZN and SLYSIG) and poster presentation in Glasgow. She will also deliver a paper at the 2016 LIASA Conference in Durban.
After FS SLYSIG was re-established in 2014, Ms Coetzer was elected as chair. The group has grown to 10 primary Interest Group and 16 Secondary Interest Group members.
She also serves LIASA as Chair-Elect of the FS Branch and as such she is part of the current Representative Council.
