The Lesejane, Baloyi, UNISA family and LIASA members
The Library and information Association of South Africa (LIASA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Ms Eunice (MaU) Lesejane. We have been honoured as a Library and Information Services (LIS) sector to have had women of Eunice’s calibre.
Eunice has been a member of LIASA since 2000 and she started serving in the Gauteng North Branch Executive Committee (GNBEC) 2014-2016 as Additional Member; Convenor for the Higher Education Libraries Interest Group (HELIG). She has impacted a lot of us with her expertise in LIASA, she worked hard in ensuring that members of the Gauteng North Branch (GNB) receive training while working closely with HELIG at National level. Eunice was a peacemaker; she had love, passion and commitment for the LIS profession. Before joining UNISA, Eunice worked at Tshwane University of Technology for several years under the leadership of Mrs Vivian Agyei.
On behalf of LIASA governance and membership, as the President of LIASA, I extend our sincere condolences to all affected families, to friends, LIASA members and the LIS sector at large. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss, grief and pain. May her soul rest in peace.

Farewell Eunice, you will be greatly missed!
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on of our colleague, Ms Eunice Lesejane. Eunice was the Deputy Director: Research & Subject Libraries at the UNISA Library.
There was a deep sadness when I heard of the passing of Eunice Lesejane. We had the opportunity of meeting, getting to know and engaging with Eunice when she was accepted for participation in the Carnegie Library Leadership Academy (CLLA) held on 05-19 November 2010. My recollection of her is of a quiet but gracious and gentle person with a beautiful smile and calm professional demeanour. Despite her personal travails, she participated wholeheartedly and diligently during these two weeks and fulfilled all the requirements of the Academy. I’m certain this was how she fulfilled her professional duties at UNISA.
On behalf of the CLLA colleagues and the staff of Rhodes University Library, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to her family and the colleagues at UNISA. May Eunice’s soul rest in peace.
It is indeed a very sad occasion for all of us at SMU Library to hear the sudden death of our colleague and friend.
