The South African Journal of Libraries and Information Science would like to announce the publication of its 2017 end-of-year issue (http://sajlis.journals.ac.za/pub/issue/view/132 ). Winding down for the year and the ensuing festive period usually cause a hiatus in the activities of authors and reviewers. However, the Editorial Team tries its best to bring the issue out early in the New Year. In an issue dominated by research related papers, contributions include, inter alia, a bibliometric study involving Scopus and Web of Science; the role of universities in promoting research and scholarly publishing in the developing world; investigating online presence, researcher discoverability and accessibility of research; and, the use of peer-reviewed electronic journals in research. The Editorial Team wishes to thank the issue’s contributors for using SAJLIS (an open access peer-reviewed journal) as a venue for their publications as well as its reviewers for their tireless efforts at ensuring quality of research and publication in the LIS discipline.
Enjoy the read!
