The Minister of Arts and Culture has appointed the Board of the National Library of South Africa (NLSA) for the period 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2018.
The members of the NLSA Board are:
Mr Themba Thomas Cyril Dlamini (Chairperson)
Mr Dlamini is currently the Managing Director of the Black Management Forum since 2014; CEO of the National Gambling Board, three months during 2014; Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa ( ICASA) 2010 – 2013; DDG at Department of Science and Technology 2009 – 2010; Accounting Officer at SETA.
He is a Non Executive member at BMFI; Chair of BMFI Remuneration Committee and Member of the Investment Committee of the BMFI. He is the Former Board member of UMALUSI; Engineering Council of South Africa and Non Executive Member of Tshwane Economic Development Agency.
Mr Dlamini was a Special Advisor to the Former Minister of Labour 2008 and he served TelkomSA as Manager of regulatory affairs.
Prof Lesiba Teffo
Prof Tefo is currently the Head of Institute for African Renaissance Studies, UNISA. He has previously served on Library Committees at universities, now serving in FIVE editorial boards. Prof Tefo has presented several papers at the LIASA Conferences.
He is a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee (DST) on IKS and is also a member of North West Province Economic Advisory Committee and serving on two University Council of FET college.
Prof Teffo is also a member of the technical team who drafted the Library Transformation Charter.
Mr Jimmy Morakile
Mr Morakile is currently the Group Manager: Transformation at Business Connexion in Midrand. He is the Vice President: Information Technology Association (ITA) of South Africa, a member of the ITA Management Committee (MANCO), a member of the ITA Executive Committee, a member of the Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) Transformation Committee and Chairperson of the BUSA Sub-Committee: Skills Development and Employment Equity.
Mr Morakile previously served as a member of the Presidential BEE Advisory Council Sub-Committee: Skills Development and Employment Equity, the Divisional Manager: HR Transformation, Business Connexion, CSI Manager at Comparex Africa, and Programme Manager: ITBLP- PQ Africa.
Dr Daisy Selematsela
Dr Selematsela is currently the Executive Director for Knowledge Management & Evaluation at the National Research Foundation (NRF). She previously championed the Electronic Thesis and Dissertations projects nationally. She is also championing the National Digitisation Project funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
She is the Vice Chair of the UN Global Alliance for Enhancing Access to and Application of Scientific Data in Developing Countries (UNGAID e-SDDC) from 2008-2010.
Dr Buhle Mbambo-Thata
Dr Mbambo-Thata is currently the Executive Director: UNISA Library. She is a member of the Strategic Advisory Network of the Global Libraries Programme of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a Council member of the African Library and Information Association and Institutions, a Board member of SANLIC.
She is formerly a Governing Board member of the International Federation of Library Associations, Committee member Library Steering Committee of Association of the Commonwealth Universities; Chairperson of the E-Knowledge Society for Women in Southern Africa; Chairperson of the Committee for Higher Education Librarians of South Africa.
Mrs Charmaine Bertram
Ms Bertram is currently a Library Manager at Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa in Sandton since 2001; Law Librarian since 1998; Librarian at Deans reading room 1995-1998. She has published articles and presented papers at national and international conferences.
Prof Mary Nassimbeni
Prof Nassimbeni is currently a Lecturer in Library and Information Studies at the University of Cape Town since 1982; Completed second term as a member of the National Council for Library and Information Services; Member of the Board of Biblionef South Africa; Member of the National Commission for Higher Education Working Group on Libraries and Information Technology (WGLIT); Member of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group for Library and Information Services (LIS). She has published and presented papers locally and internationally; Publications and Research papers.
Mrs Maleho Margaret Daisy Nkomo
Mrs Nkomo is currently a non-executive and independent director at various boards, including the National Urban Reconstruction and Housing Agency (NURCHA), the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency and the National Energy Regulator of South Africa.
She is also an independent and non-executive audit committee member of the Sizwe Medical Fund, Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, NURCHA, and the West Rand District Municipality.
Ms Nkomo previously served as Deputy Chairperson of the Gauteng Rental Housing Tribunal 2006 – 2013, Acting Deputy Commissioner and Chief Financial Officer at the Competition Commission 2001 – 2006 and CFO the South African Tourism 1998 – 2001.
Mrs Nonhlanhla Eudocia (Mona) Dick
Mrs Dick is currently the Finance Controller at Southern Africa EMC Computer Systems South Africa (ICT); Financial Manager at CEF (SOC) Ltd ( Oil and Energy) 2012 – 2014; Acting CFO 2012 – 2013 at CEF; Audit Manager Auditorn General South Africa 2011 – 2012; Manager: Finance and Risk at Standard Bank 2010; Audit Consultant with Deloitte 2007-2009 and Chairperson of Procurement Committee.
Ms Sanele Aloisia Kunene
Ms Kunene is currently the Head of Library at Tshwane University of Technology (Nelspruit Campus since 2009 to date; Group Research Manager at AFDA (SA School of motion picture and live performance) 2007-2009; Assistant Librarian at the University of Western Cape Community Law Center in 2003. Library Assistant Cape Peninsula University of Technology Library ( Inter-Library Loans) 2004-2007 and Assistant Librarian at the University of Western Cape in 2003.
Ms Sanele Kunene is the LIASA HELIG PRO 2014-2016.
