LIASA President attends opening of Mabeskraal Community Library Refilwe Motihabane and Tommy Matthee

The LIASA President, Tommy Matthee was invited to attend the official opening of the Mabeskraal Community Library in the North West Province on 2 December 2004. In his address at the opening, Mr Matthee congratulated the MEC for the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms N Num, as well as the Moses Kotane Local Municipality on the completion of the Mabeskraal Library Project. He also gave a short overview of LIASA and encouraged the librarians present to become actively involved in the organisation.

The decade of freedom is nearing the end but for the community of Moses Kotane and primarily Mabeskraal and surrounding villages it is a dawn of a new decade of freedom. Freedom from the illiteracy bondage and in the next decade the library shall also be regarded as another way of celebrating a next decade of freedom.
