Ms Manda Hough

Northern Cape Branch Librarian of the Year 2016

Manda is a qualified librarian with a B. Bibl Degree. She has 18 years experience in various library environments. In 2012 she graduated from the Carnegie Library Leadership Academy with distinction and is currently studying towards her Honours Degree.

Manda is the head of Beaconsfield Public Library in Kimberley. She is an enthustiastic public librarian with a passion for community outreach. She conducts various outreach and holiday programs including reading and drama sessions for the elderly and disabled. The Library’s primary school reading club is a big success. In 2015 the Beaconsfield Public Library under Manda’s guidance won 2nd place in the Municipality’s Unit Performer of the Year Competition.They used their prize money to donate napkins and clothes to the Bophelo Care Centre in Beaconsfield.

Manda is an active LIASA member. She served as NC Chairperson for 2010-2014 and is currently Public Relations Oficcer. Under her leadership the NC won the President’s Most Improved Branch Award for 2011 and in 2012. The NC was rewarded for improving their membership by 26%. Manda also served on the LIASA EXCO in 2012-2014.
Manda believes that with hard work, passion and team work, anything is possible.
