The South African nation is greatly enriched by the knowledge, skills, ingenuity, dedication, commitment and service that individuals in the library and information field bring to their institutions and communities.  While such people may occasionally be honoured in some way, perhaps by an institution they worked for or a community they served, there is a need for an award bestowed by the wider profession.

LIASA and the S.A. Library and Information Trust are partners in such an award to recognise notable service to the profession over an extended period in the field of library and information services, research, education and training.  The contribution can be on any level of the profession, including operational, management or academic.  This prestigious annual award, the SALI Trust – LIASA Lifetime Achievement Award, is aimed at recognising an extraordinary career and will be presented at the LIASA Conference.

The closing date for submission of nominations is 21 July 2017.
