SALI Trust Logo Competition

The S.A. Library and Information (SALI) Trust invites participation in a competition to design a logo for the Trust.  Anyone is welcome to take part and the design need not be of a professional standard (hand-drawn sketches are also fine), but all designs submitted must be completely original and should be able to be reproduced clearly in colour and black and white.

The winning design will be selected by the Board of the SALI Trust and the winner will receive a prize of R1 000.

The design should consist of a symbol representing the objectives and work of the Trust, as well as the name of the Trust.  The design can be on an A4-size page and the winning design will later be adjusted to the required size.  The SALI Trust reserves the right to make changes to the winning design.

Essentially, the objectives of the Trust are to promote the common interests of the library and information profession in South Africa and to develop librarianship for services of a high standard.  To achieve this, the Trust offers grants for:


  • Research for a postgraduate qualification or research project that significantly contributes to the library and information sector
  • Projects which contribute to library and information development in some way through the improvement of library services or access to and use of information resources and reading material
