It has been a tumultuous yet exciting year that kicked off with the news of LIASA’s accreditation as a professional body and, that saw the successful hosting in Cape Town of the 81st IFLA World Library and Information Congress. Libraries being destroyed as part of political and civil unrest or even natural disasters persisted throughout the year. The negative news in our sector was counterbalanced by the many examples of the unstinting dedication to library and information services globally but noted particular pride, here at home despite at times, social challenges. We salute all librarians with respect for service excellence as we promote access to information for all.
The LIASA President and the Representative Council wish all our members, colleagues, partners and all stakeholders a peaceful holiday season and best wishes for a successful and productive 2016.
