Unisa Alumnus of the Year 2015 – Call for nominations

The Department of Information Science of UNISA instituted an “Alumnus of the Year Award” in 2005 to honour some the thousands of students who have studied through the Department, often under very difficult circumstances. The Department makes the Award to acknowledge alumni who have played a leading role at an academic or professional level or achieved milestones in their careers and reached the highest office in our profession.

The previous winners of the award are:

· 2014 Prof Ngoepe, Department of Information Science, University of South Africa

· 2013 Ms Janet Zambri, University of the Witwatersrand

· 2012 Dr Constant Okelly-Obura, Makerere University, Kampala.

· 2011 Ms Gwenda Thomas, Director of Library Services, University of Cape Town

· 2010: Mr Robert Pearce Director LIS, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University

· 2009: Ms Denise Nicholson Copyright services Librarian, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg

· 2008: Ms Helen Kay Raseroka (DOC) Director of Library Services, University of Botswana 

· 2007: Ms Clare Walker Deputy University Librarian: University of the Witwatersrand Library, Johannesburg

· 2006: Ms Rachel More Executive Director: Libraries of the University of Limpopo 

· 2005: Mr Robert Moropa Director, Academic Information Service, University of Pretoria

The Department herewith invites nominations for its Alumnus of the Year 2015 Award. Any person who acquired a qualification through the Department can be nominated. Please send your nominations to Dr Madely du Preez (preezm@unisa.ac.za) by Friday 4 March 2015.
