Job Purpose

To render a support service in the Technical service department and CPUT Libraries by ensuring the processing and repair of books, and transport of books, furniture and other library equipment and material to, within and between relevant branches.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

·         Grade 10
·         At least 1 year relevant experience in a Service environment
·         Code 08 drivers licemce older than 3 years
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

 

  • All tasks in any aspect of service support and support administration at the Library Attendant level as may be required from time to time in the work locations that requires it.
  • Processing of all library material
  • Dispatching of library material
  • Transport library material to various locations ie. branch libraries, binders and bookshops
  • Repairing library materials
  • Preparing library material s for binding
  • Record keeping and filing
  • Client support
  • Shelving and shelf reading
  • Team / departmental support
  • Relieving in other departments and branch libraries
  • Participating in the shift system, including after hours and on Saturdays
  • Physical movement of books, furniture and other library equipment and material
