This position is specifically suited for a dynamic person with proven experience in providing research data services in an academic environment.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30

Duties:

  • Leadership and strategic innovation in Research Data Services (RDS);
  • Implementing Research Data Management (RDM) strategies and initiatives;
  • Advocacy and support for managing research data;
  • Managing data collections and enhancing data security;
  • Liaison between the researchers, Library and other role players on RDM

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or a Bachelor’s degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Informatics or Knowledge Management;
  • At least three years’ experience in providing RDS in an academic or research environment;
  • Knowledge of the needs of an academic community with regard to RDS;
  • Knowledge of RDM practices and understanding of RDM policy implementation;
  • High level of ICT

Recommendations: 

  • Experience in doing research on postgraduate level;
  • Experience in creating data management plans;
  • Exposure to and knowledge of changing trends in RDM in academic or research libraries;
  • Experience in functioning effectively as part of a team, as well as the ability to work
