Roles and Responsibilities within LIASA Structures

Responsible for the following, in collaboration with fellow committee members:

  • Plan and align activities with overall LIASA strategy and sector trends and developments
  • Coordinate activities
  • Chair/lead meetings
  • Report to LIASA Representative Council during meetings
  • Report to IG/Branch members during AGM
  • Submit reports to LIASA following AGM
  • Coordinate regular communication with IG/Branch members, via Secretary, PRO
  • Solicit information and ideas from IG/Branch Committee members and IG/Branch members
  • Monitor adherence to LIASA and IG/Branch Constitution
  • Encourage development of all IG/Branch members
  • Responsibilities can be directed to Chair-elect
  • Acts as signatory together with the Treasurer
  • Coordinate/manage elections in collaboration with LNO and LIASA Electoral Officer


The Chair-elect serves one term as Chair-elect and then automatically assumes the position of Chair for the next term.

Responsible for the following, in collaboration with fellow committee members:

  • Act for the Chair in the absence of the Chair, and conduct other duties required by the Chair
  • Draft invitations to IG/Branch webinars and other events in collaboration with PRO


The Treasurer handles all finances and should be able to keep accurate records of income and expenditure and to report on these. Good capabilities of working with spread sheets would be essential.

Responsible for the following, in collaboration with fellow committee members:

  • Report to LIASA Treasurer on a quarterly basis, and share financial statements
  • Prepare audited Branch/IG statements for submission during IG/Branch AGM
  • Assess, review, and protect IG/Branch wellbeing
  • Ensure cash flow is adequate
  • Handle cash balances
  • Ensure projects are likely to be beneficial to IG/Branch
  • Collect and manage payments to IG/Branch
  • Maintain records & write reports
  • Keep up to date with financial issues within LIASA, and communicate to other members where needed
  • Acts as signatory together with the Chair
  • Prepare and issue invoices
  • Maintain an invoice registry

Public Relations Officer

This position requires excellent writing skills for communication with stakeholders.

Responsible for the following, in collaboration with fellow committee members:

  • Communication to LIASA and wider community e.g. mailing lists, social media tools
  • Draft invitations to IG/Branch webinars and other events in collaboration with Chair-elect
  • Promote good information flow within IG/Branch
  • Plan PRO budget
  • Respond to enquiries from community
  • Prepare and communicate marketing material
  • Marketing of all events via social media tools
  • Assist with preparing IG/Branch reports, webinar reports, submissions to LIASA database
  • Manage IG/Branch website (blog)
  • Organise events e.g. webinars, workshops in collaboration with Chair-elect
  • Manage LIASA brand identity within IG/Branch
  • Procure sponsorship deals
  • Maintain Branch/IG mailing list/s
  • Prepare attendance certificates for Branch/IG events
  • Keep a certificate registry


The position of Secretary is fairly demanding and requires good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsible for the following, in collaboration with fellow committee members:

  • Telephone contact for IG/Branch (incl. inquiries re webinars)
  • Membership campaigns in collaboration with IG/Branch Chairs
  • Maintain IG/Branch calendar
  • Arrange IG/Branch appointments
  • Digital filing of all IG/Branch documentation on LIASA Repository (completed documentation), Google Drive (Work in Progress)
  • Organising and servicing meetings (announcement, compile agendas, take minutes)
  • Handle correspondence
  • Maintain a record of IG/Branch members (incl. contact details), and report on it
