| | Elizabeth Wasserman was born in Klersdorp, 1964. She grew up in a tiny village called Koppies, in the middle of the Free State, in South Africa. She has two brothers and a sister and they told her stories every day. As a child she wanted to become a writer, but decided that it was best to first get something to write about. She started off by studying medicine at Free State University, and later specialized in Medical Microbiology at Stellenbosch University. She loves to learn and to teach. Elizabeth is very interested in science and nature, and believes that one has to understand how everything fits together in order to treat our ecosystem, and each other, with care and respect. She is a pathologist in private practice and extraordinary professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology at the University of Stellenbosch. She lives with her husband, daughter and a couple of Spaniels in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Elizabeth contributed to Nuwe Kinderverseboek (Tafelberg, 2009) and is the author of the Speurhond Willem and Anna Atoom series, both published by Tafelberg. Her books are available in Afrikaans and English | | | | |  | | Pam Newham has worked as a librarian, an English teacher and in public relations. For the past 24 years she has been a magazine journalist. She has published three young adult novels, including The Klipspringers (Oxford University Press) which is CAPS approved for Gr 7 HL. Her poems have appeared in Carapace, The Ground’s Ear, Difficult to Explain, Heart of Africa, Scrutiny2, Stanzas and Sol Plaatje Anthology. She lives in Hout Bay, Cape Town.
