Library Changemaker Award

A changemaker is someone who is taking creative, agile action to solve a social problem. Thus, whether sparking a global movement or stopping a classroom bully, a founder of a social enterprise, or an employee of a multinational company or a library, every changemaker is intentional about solving a social problem.

In line with the theme of this year's Conference, namely "Libraries Matter!: Reflecting on a Year of Change", the award will allow those worthy nominees to be recognised for the work that they have done during this time of reflection. This unique award is to celebrate and acknowledge contributions to the LIS sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nominate a colleague who has gone beyond the call of duty to keep your library services relevant to your community during the COVID-19 pandemic for the Library Changemaker Award.

Criteria

  • This award is open to all 2021 paid-up LIASA members.
  • This is an individual award (similar to the Librarian of the Year Award).  Even if the services emanates from an institution, it is often one or two people who have an idea and champion the initiative. Changemaker implies individual and it should be an award for an individual member to show that LIASA, Sabinet, UKS and Nevada LMS recognises Library Changemakers and reward its members.
  • No late or incomplete entries will be considered
  • Finalists need to be registered delegates of the 2021 LIASA Virtual Conference.
  • The adjudicators decision is final
  • LIASA and the sponsors reserve the right not to make an award.

How to enter:

  • In no more than 600 words, provide a detailed description of the contribution e.g. innovative programmes to make up for limited access; adapting traditional annual programmes to the "new normal" etc.
  • A portfolio of visual evidence must accompany the nomination - posters; photographs; video; audio; or any other kind of evidence you have
  • Nominators and nominees must provide their full names, job titles, institution/organisation, and contact details.
  • Submit the contact details of the nominator and nominee, detailed description, and visual evidence to librarychangemaker@liasa.org.za.

Award

Thanks to the generous sponsorship provided by Sabinet, UKS and Nevada LMS the top three entries will each take home the title of Library Changemaker and a cash award of R10 000.00

Timeline
