MindfulnessIn this time of great uncertainty and complexity, especially around the stress of COVID-19, suffering from COVID-exhaustion, there is an enormous need for help in coping and being kind both to ourselves, our families, our work colleagues, and our library users. There may be other added personal high stresses as well. It is easy to be mindless. People have become so used to being mindless that mindfulness, when we hear about it, sounds very airy fairy, abstract and difficult to learn and maintain. Librarians, by virtue of their work environment easily fall prey to mindlessness. However, the library provides us a great opportunity to render mindful services, where library users are treated with love, kindness, and given prompt, purposeful, non-judgemental attention. HELIG invites you to join Julia Paris, Transformational Coach, Facilitator and Mentor, and the founder of the SOPHIA School of Wisdom, LIASA National Librarian of the Year in 2011, for a webinar on how librarians can say goodbye to mindlessness, and welcome mindfulness, with a beginner’s mind, fresh perspective, doing so with grace and ease on a personal and professional level.
