IGBIS, your Interest Group for Bibliographic Standards, is pleased to announce Robert Moropa as the fifth guest in our series of Conversations with Leaders in LIS. Mr Moropa stood as LIASA president for the 2002-2004 term and was presented LIASA’s Executive Librarian of the Year Award in 2019.

Mr Moropa has held positions in academic library services at the University of Transkei, University of South Africa, and most recently, heading Library Services at the University of Pretoria (UP). Under Mr Moropa’s leadership the UP Library became the first in South Africa to launch and use a service robot, known as Libby. In 2020 he co-wrote a chapter for Facet Publishing’s Bold minds: library leadership in a time of disruption. Apparent throughout his LIS career is Mr Moropa’s embodiment of leadership qualities and his encouragement of leadership potential and innovation. Robert Moropa stands as an exemplary leader and active contributor to the LIS profession.
