#IGBISwithLeaders: Rachel More

IGBIS, your Interest Group for Bibliographic Standards, is delighted that Ms Rachel More is the next guest for our Conversations with Leaders series!

Ms More has been an invaluable contributor to the Library and Information Services (LIS) profession for over 40 years and has been integral in establishing and providing library services to South Africans. Ms More has previously held posts in provincial and academic libraries and was Deputy National Librarian at the National Library of South Africa. Some of the notable awards recognising Rachel’s contributions include the UNISA Department of Information Science Alumnus of the Year Award in 2002 and the Sabinet Librarian of the Year award in 2004. Ms More was president of LIASA during the 2008-2010 term and was conferred honorary LIASA membership in 2010. Since 2016 she is Chairperson of the SALI Trust, awarding grants to further research and excellence in the LIS profession. Rachel is an active contributor to development projects and inspires us with her dedication to community upliftment.

LIASA IGBIS actively supports and strives to engage with our LIS community by looking to our past and current leaders to shape the future. We look forward to seeing everyone for this sixth session in our ongoing #IGBISwithLeaders series.
