IGBIS, LIASA’s Interest Group for Bibliographic Standards, invites you to attend a webinar on Tuesday 7 November with guest speaker Heidy Berthoud from the Library of Congress in the United States. Heidy will be speaking about the Subject Authority Cooperative Program (SACO).

This session will be a complement to Dr Hester Marais’s presentations in June and August, when Dr Marais discussed the Name Authority Cooperative Program (NACO) and the importance of creating high quality name authority records.

During this upcoming presentation, Heidy Berthoud will inform us on SACO submissions and funnels, and how the SACO program connects to the strategic goals of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC). This session will be invaluable to everyone looking to understand the standards and processes behind Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and how we can make our own contribution.

Heidy Berthoud is a Cataloging Policy Specialist in the Policy, Training, and Cooperative Programs (PTCP) Division of the Library of Congress. She is the lead for the SACO program and holds many additional responsibilities in the areas of descriptive and subject cataloguing policy. Prior to joining the Library of Congress, Heidy worked for the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives, Vassar College Libraries, and the University of Chicago Library.
