Digital pedagogy in libraries: are we prepared as academic librarians? Join the LIASA Academic and Research Libraries Sector (A&RL) for an engaging Journal Talk Session as we critically explore the evolving role of academic librarians in the digital teaching and learning landscape. The discussion will center on the paper: Integrating a digital pedagogy approach into online teaching: are academic librarians at Universities of Technology in South Africa prepared? Our featured speaker, Dr. Mousin Omarsaib, the author of the paper and Subject Librarian in the Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment at the Durban University of Technology Library, will lead the conversation, unpacking key insights and challenges related to digital pedagogy in academic libraries. While the paper focuses on Universities of Technology, this session will broaden the discussion to include all academic libraries in general, reflecting on readiness, skills, and strategies for effectively integrating digital pedagogy into our practice. Key discussion points: - Are academic librarians equipped to embrace digital pedagogy?
- How can we bridge the digital skills gap of academic librarians?
- Strategies for integrating digital teaching approaches in library instruction.
- The evolving role of academic librarians in supporting online learning
